The San Juan Police Department Patrol Officers are the first elements of intervention in most Law Enforcement activities.  They respond to all calls for service and are responsible for original offense reports and field investigations.  Patrol Officers are also expected to enforce the laws of the State of Texas and Municipal ordinances.

The San Juan Police Department has 26 patrol officers assigned to the Patrol Division. These officers have other specialty duties and tasks they performed as a part of their regular duties.

The patrol shifts have minimum staffing requirements and provide different types of patrol procedures depending on the needs of the community and crime trends. The patrol officers work other special details and community events as well.
