In support of the overall mission of the San Juan Police Department, the Education & Training Division will provide progressive and comprehensive training to develop policing skills, enhance leadership abilities, and promote a solid ethical foundation to all department members.
The San Juan Police Department Education and Training Division provides continuous peace officer’s training for its SJPD officers. This program provides over 40 hours of basic, intermediate and advanced training to all SJPD officers and prepares each officer to provide the best customer service to our citizens. Some examples of the training provided are firearms, arrest, search and seizure, less-lethal, physical training, classroom training, and scenario-based training.
The Education and Training Division provides progressive and comprehensive training to develop policing skills, enhance leadership abilities, and promote a solid ethical foundation to all SJPD Officers. Also, throughout the year the core values of professionalism, obligation, leadership, integrity, courage, and excellence are stressed and reinforced. SJPD Officers receive other specialized training, which exceeds the mandate by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. SJPD Officers receive extra specialized training in gangs, drugs, law, ethics, report writing, vehicle stops and law enforcement emergency driving.
