Welcome to the San Juan Law Enforcement Emergency Regional Response Team (LEERRT) tactical training and support website. This team was created to provide training resources and emergency support to small Law Enforcement agencies along the Texas-Mexico border to combat border related violence.

The San Juan Law Enforcement Emergency Regional Response Team (LEERRT) was created through a Homeland Security Grant awarded to San Juan Police Department in 2010 through the approval of the Homeland Security Advisory Committee managed by the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.

The LEERRT is the first border regional tactical unit composed of 24 local law enforcement agencies created to respond to tactical operations across Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr, Willacy, Brooks and Jim Wells Counties.

All training and support provided by the San Juan Law Enforcement Emergency Regional Response Team (LEERRT) is in compliance with the national swat standards developed by the National Tactical Officers Association. The (LEERRT) is also a member of the Texas Tactical Police Officer’s Association and the National Tactical Officer’s Association.

The San Juan Law Enforcement Emergency Regional Response Team was created in 2009 through a Homeland Security Grant awarded to San Juan Police Department. Its functions and responsibilities are to provide Specialized Emergency Response Services to Multi-Agencies that are part of the LEERRT team.

The team has 32 members from 24 different Law Enforcement Agencies from Hidalgo and Cameron Counties. The LEERRT is a nationally recognized emergency response team and has provided specialized training to hundreds of police officers in the region. San Juan LEERRT is the primary SWAT team for each participating agency and is under the command of the Police Chief requesting the assistance.
